The Chisago County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution last week proclaiming April 6-12 as National County Government Week in Chisago County.
Across the nation there are 3,066 counties providing essential services to communities serving 300 million Americans.
The proclamation is in recognition of the leadership, innovation and valuable service provided by the nation’s counties, especially in the protection and welfare of children. The National Association of Counties first celebrated this week in 1991 to raise public awareness and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the nation’s counties to meet the needs of the community.
The National Association of Counties is the only national organization that represents county government in the United States.
