In order to meet the cash flow needs for the Road and Bridge Fund, the Chisago County commissioners last week had to approve a temporary transfer of $2 million from other funds, at the request of County Treasurer Lee Olson.
They approved taking $1 million from the County revenue Fund and $1 million from the Capital Equipment Fund. Olson hoped that this action would meet the cash flow requirements until property taxes arrive later this spring.
The transfer was also approved by County Administrator John Moosey.
The motion passed 3-2 but commissioners Rick Greene and Ben Montzka opposed.
Montzka said he thought it was a big issue.
Moosey reminded them that Public Works is not overspending what was approved in the budget.
In other action, the board ratified labor contracts with the Teamsters including government center professionals, the Health and Human Services Unit, County Highway and engineering techs.
In all cases, a 10 cents an hour increase was given to all employees at Step 10 and they all received a 2.5 percent cost of living increase.
