Lyle G. Young, age 82 of North Branch died on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn.
Lyle was born on June 27, 1925 in Fargo, North Dakota to Harvey and Amanda (Swandt) Young. He attended school through the 8th grade. Lyle entered the U.S. Navy on December 10, 1943 during WWII and served his country until he was honorably discharged on January 6, 1946. He then married Lois Cottrell on June 6, 1953. Lyle was a Teamster Truck Driver for 40 plus years and retired in 1988. He enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing, playing bingo and conversation with friends and family.
He is survived by his three children, Glenn (Julie) Young of Denver, Colo.; Lori (Chad) Brenny of Loveland, Colo., and Shelly Young of North Branch; six grandchildren, Sara, Bjorn, Austin, Colton, Max and Madison, brother, Cliff (Marlys) Young of Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Mavis Snyder of Fargo, N.D.; Vivian Nieves of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Violet Mustain of Apopla, Fla.; Imogene Fossy of Horace, N.D. and Donna Bruse of Horace, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin infant brother and sister, Kenneth and Kathryn; wife, Lois and brother, Orville.
Visitation was on Wednesday, April 2 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Dan Brumm officiating. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the West Funeral Home in West Fargo, N.D. with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fargo.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
