Fairview Lakes Health Services, along with other national, state and community organizations, is participating in a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making—an effort that has led to the formal designation of April 16, as the first National Healthcare Decisions Day.
At 2 p.m. April 16, Darcy Nelson, Gretchen Kirvida and Amy P. Shaleen of Fairview Lake HomeCaring & Hospice will lead a free hourlong program on Advance Directive Planning. The program will take place in the lower level Olsen Auditorium at the Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic in Chisago City. Everyone is welcome to attend, ask questions and receive help in planning an advance directive. Advance directives help in medical decision-making when patients cannot speak for themselves. Forms and other information will be available.
“This is just one of the many thoughtful conversations about healthcare decisions and completing reliable advance directives expected to take place as a result of the nation’s first Healthcare Decisions Day,” says Carla Norelius, Fairview Lakes Community Health Outreach.
The one-hour program is part of the “Today’s Health Topics” series offered by Fairview Lakes Health Services in collaboration with the Chisago Lakes, North Branch and Forest Lake community education departments. The public is welcome. Preregistration is not necessary. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Carla Norelius, (651) 257-8806.
