The North Branch girls golf team opened its season at home April 17, finishing last in a nine-team North Suburban Conference meet at the North Branch Golf Course.
Head coach Dave Ambers said not everything went as planned.
“I told a former player before the match that, if everything went well, we might shoot 249 ... . Emily Juve had a two-hole melt down that caused her score to balloon. To her credit, she composed herself and played much better after that. This was her first varsity match. She’s a good, smart kid who’ll learn lessons from this and use it to her advantage," Ambers said.
“On the positive side, sophomore Katie Foley, playing her first time as our number one player, took charge and played very good golf. Playing in a five-some with some excellent golfers, finished third in her group. Only nine girls, of more than 50, finished ahead of her.”
