Boys track takes second at Ogilvie meet PDF Print

bk1.jpgThe Rush City boys and girls track team were at the Ogilvie Speed Meet on April 17.

Braham, East Central, Meadow Creek, Ogilvie, Pine City, West Lutheran and Zimmerman competed in the meet.

The boys team had a strong showing as they took second place with 97 points.

Pine City won the boys meet with 129 points.

In the field events, senior Isaac Roll gave the boys a boost in points. In shot put, he took second place with a throw of just over 40 feet and in the discus, he finished third with a throw of 113 feet.

Ethan Turner took second place in the long jump with a leap of 10.5 feet.

Senior Blake Rustad took second in the 100 in 11.85 and second in the 200 in 24.33.

In the distance events, senor Zac Saumer claimed second place in the 3200 with a time of 11:35 and second in the mile with a time of 4:59. 

The girls managed third place with 83.5 points.

Zimmerman was the clear winner with 177 points.

Sophomore Andrea Becker won the shot put with a throw of just over 31 feet.

The 4x800 relay team finished first in 11:03. Relay members were Bryanna Koehnle, Courtney Arvidson, Erin Kossan and Laura Hestbeck.

The 4x400 relay team of Alison Toering, Koehnle, Ashley Swanson and Hestbeck finished second in 4:38.

At the mid-distance level, Swanson finished second place in the 800 with a time of 2:39.

In the triple jump Danica Schellbach finished second.

Up next, the Rush City track team will host the Tigerama at home.
