He puts the blame on Bush |

TO THE EDITOR:
Gasoline prices are double what they were when Bush was declared President. Oil profits are even higher. Who suffers and who profits? Food prices in some of the poorest countries have doubled while Cargill’s quarterly earnings increased by 86%, reaching $1 billion for the first time. Who suffers and who profits? At what cost? The number of people dying from starvation will climb from 6 million to more than 10 million. Who is pro-life and who is the doctor of death? Our free trade agreements were suppose to be a “win-win” for everyone, but that has not been the case. Sure there are winners, but look at the losers, those that have lost jobs when their jobs were outsourced to Asia, those trying to sneak into the United States because there is no work left in their countries, or those lucky enough to work in “sweat shops,” a modern day version of slavery. Who supported those so-called free trade agreements? Bush and his base, the same people that are trying to sell you their own version of the Berlin wall to stop the flood of illegal immigrants and lied to us to get us to invade Iraq, a war that has not only created huge deficits, but will be left for our children to pay for and for what end?
Certainly not regional stability; the only thing that surge has achieved is a drop in violence which even Bush says is reversible.
And maybe not reversible is the harm the Bush administration has done to the environment with global climate change, as we consume fuel to ship goods to China and other countries to be assembled and then ship them back to be consumed. We need to end this voo-doo, neo-liberal policies that are the real threat to humanity and the earth, the real force that is fueling terrorism in the world.
