Tigers win big double-header PDF Print

schef1.jpgAfter a rough 0-2 start, the Rush City Tigers rebounded last week, securing two wins and getting back to even.

On Monday, April 28, Hinckley came to town for a double-header.  In the first game the Tigers managed a 5-1 win.

Brittany Scheffer earned her first win as a varsity player against Hinckley on Monday, pitching 3 1/3 innings and striking out four batters.

Jade Kristofferson earned her first varsity win, pitching all seven innings, walking three and striking out 11.   Leading the Tigers in hitting was Tomi Schellbach with two hits; Lynn Adrion and Shelbi Logue each had a hit.  Schellbach scored two runs, while Chelsea Peterson, Lynn Adrion, and Shelbi Logue each scored a run.

In the night cap the bats came alive for the Tigers, winning 24-4 in five innings.  Kristofferson started the game pitching 1 2/3 innings.  Brittany Scheffer then came in and got her first varsity win, pitching 3 1/3 innings, striking out four.

The Tigers had 14 different girls cross the plate.  Scoring their first ever varsity runs were Kelsey Bratlie, Jean Cook, Ariel Peterson, Chelsea Chilson, Lindsey Kuhlman, Abby Scherer, and Trista Sarago.  Also scoring for the Tigers were Jade Kristofferson, Brittany Scheffer, Shelbi Logue, Amy Carlson, Lynn Adrion, Tomi Schellbach, and  Chelsea Peterson.

Brittany Scheffer had a bases loaded triple going three for five and Tomi Schellbach had a double going three for four.

“Once again the defense looked good.  Shelbi Logue is calling a wonderful game as a catcher and is doing a great job of keeping the runners close and throwing out attempting stealers,” said coach Kim Erdman, adding, “Chelsea Peterson made some beautiful plays at short, Schellbach made a diving catch at third and Scheffer has yet to let one by her at first. Carlson is very smart in the infield and my young outfield has stepped up to the challenge and played very well.”
