Girl Scouts appreciate the help |

TO THE EDITOR:
This May we are earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the culmination of 12 years in Girl Scouting.
The Gold Award is the highest award attainable in the Girl Scouting program. It requires girls to meet three prerequisites in leadership, skill development, and career exploration, and design and implement a significant leadership project involving 50 service hours over a four month period.
We chose to make 60 “Star Jeanie” bags to be given to youth involved in a traumatic event such as: a fire, accident, or foster care.
It would not have been possible for us to earn this award without the help of many people in our community. We would like to acknowledge the following people: Anne Gauvin of Youth As Resources for helping us obtain grant money; Target Distribution for monetary donation; bag sewers Mary Bronson and Linda Haubrick plus our moms, Teresa Humble and Geri Sausen; Pastor Ed and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Stacy for use of their facilities; Tammi, Amber and Nicole Bachman, and Brian Humble for stuffed animal donations; Annette Olson, Dorothy Mikilich, Barb Gross, Ana Canela, Leola Bebeau, Joan Haehnel and Curt Murawski from Family Pathways in Forest Lake for blue jeans; Michelle Wolfe for books; plus Kim Olson from the Crisis Center for helping distribute the bags.
Earning our Gold Award has been a very rewarding experience. We strongly encourage other girls to get involved and stay involved in Girl Scouting.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Humble & Katie Sausen
