Fiery accident claims life of two Friday |

A horrific car crash along Hwy. 8 near James Ave., west of Chisago City, on Friday evening resulted in the deaths of two drivers, including 18-year-old James E. Selden II, of Shafer.
According to the state patrol, Selden was traveling west-bound on Hwy. 8 at approximately 7:40 p.m. on May 9, when the SUV he was driving suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a semi-trailer car carrier head-on. According to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, the semi attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid Selden’s vehicle.
Immediately following the crash, both vehicles burst into flames.
Selden, as well as truck driver Joseph H. Puckett, 49, of Phoenix, AZ., were pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation by the state patrol reconstruction team.
