Heirloom preservation workshop set for May 20 |
Learn about organizing your family papers, photos and other family treasures and how to preserve different types of memorabilia at a special workshop on Tuesday, May 20, presented by the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) in conjunction with the Chisago County Historical Society.
The majority of the nation’s treasures are not found in museums; they are tucked away in people’s attics, garages and basements, according to Bob Herskovitz, chief outreach conservator at the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS). On May 20, Herskovitz himself will show Chisago County residents how to care for and preserve these beloved family heirlooms for future generations to learn from and enjoy. The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. at the Chisago Lakes Area Library, 11754 302nd St, Chisago City.
You are encouraged to bring an object that can be transported safely and Herskovitz will give you some expert advice on its preservation at the workshop. The Community Room will open at 5 p.m. for set-up, so bring your items and come early. The workshop is free. For more information call the Chisago County Historical Society at (651) 257-5310.
