The Stacy Municipal Liquor Operations Team has managed to pull off a winning game for the month of April. Accountant Amy Joslin reported to the council May 13, that a profit of $6,500 and $6,100 was achieved at the respective establishments. “Sales were good for the on-sale (the Stacy Bar and Grill), right about where we’d like them to be to make a profit” Joslin said.
Other Stacy business:
• Stacy will be scheduling a cleanup event for Saturday, May 31. There will be free curbside pickup and disposal of yard waste. The city will be able to dispose of the waste free at the composting site. Volunteers are being sought to help. The clean up event will include the Sunrise Mobile Home Park.
• Randy Lindholm of Metal Crafters of Stacy checked in on the final details of the company’s expansion in the Stacy Ponds Business Park. Mayor John Daher told Lindholm the “but-for” test representing Metal Crafters qualifying for tax increment financing is being finalized. Stacy’s Financial Advisor Todd Hagen is working on the TIF agreement.
Neither Lindholm nor the city want to see groundbreaking delayed so with assurances all around that everyone’s word was in place, Lindholm agreed to go ahead with the project and wrap up the paperwork after the ground is broken for the new building.
“Welcome to Stacy” Daher said and Lindholm departed with a smile on his face, his reward for a few tense previous meetings where it appeared his purchase agreement and issues surrounding Jack Kramer’s termination might hold up financing.
• A representative of Nextera Communications spoke to the council proposing to install satellite equipment on one of Stacy water towers in order to bring broadband service to the area.
Mayor Daher said, “I’ve had many questions from businesses on what we’ve had for internet service. I see this as a positive thing for the business community.”
US Cable has previously had discussions with the city, but the mayor pointed out after waiting for five years for anything to happen, he would like to consider the proposal from Nextera.
• The recently acquired property on the south side of city hall along Forest Blvd will be razed soon. City View Lawn Care submitted the low bid of $4,700. In exchange for tearing the house down and filling in the basement, City View will be allowed to strip usable fixtures including the windows and doors from the property.
• Grundhoefer has drafted an ordinance pertaining to outdoor burners. The council was aware of only three so far in the city. but felt it would be wise to have regulations in place now.
Resident Ken Cummings, who utilizes an outdoor burner at his home, invited the councilors to come by and inspect the burner to learn more about them.
Councilor Bud Wilson received assurances that the three property owners who now have a burner would not be impacted should an ordinance be passed now. Wilson was told the three would be grandfathered in.
