Lucille V. Gustafson, age 86 of North Branch died on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming.
Lucille was born on February 17, 1922 in Hawkins, Wisc., to Victor and Mildred (Mead) Harvey. At a young age her family moved to the Cable, Wisc., area where she grew up and graduated from Union High School in Cable in 1939. After high school she attended the St. Paul Bible Institute granduating in 1943. She then went onto the Mounds Midway School of Nursing graduating in 1947 with a Registered Nurses Degree. She worked in several hospitals before spending 18 years as a Registered Nurse at the Rush City Hospital. Lucille also worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Rush City and at one time served as Director of Nursing.
She retired at the age of 62 and then took care of her mother and mother-in-law until their deaths. Lucille married Floyd Gustafson on August 4, 1951 at the Cable Missionary Alliance Church. She loved crafts, ceramics and loved spending time in the north woods at Cable, Wisc. She was active at Harris Covenant Church and served on several church groups over the years. She spent the last four years at Happy Tracks Care Center near North Branch.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Gustafson of Edina; sons; Gary (Cay) of Roseville; Paul (Laura) of North Branch; Donn (Jana) of Cambridge and Lee (Allison) of Cable, Wisc.; brother, Marvin (Pearl) Harvey of Cable, Wisc., and sister, Marge (Eugene) Petersen of Colorado; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd; infant daughter, Christina; brothers, Richard, Warren and Victor, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 3 p.m. from the Harris Covenant Church with Rev. Neil Bonkoski officiating. Music was provided by Gary Nyquist. Casketbearers were her grandchildren, Sarah Calatayud, Christy Lothrop, Jenni Gustafson, Cari Gustafson, Alexa Gustafson and Matt Gustafson. Interment followed at Harris Covenant Cemetery at Harris.
Arrangement were under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
