TO THE EDITOR;
As the price of gasoline continues to rise, more and more area residents are turning to the Chisago-Isanti County Heartland Express transit system to get around our communities. Local transit service plays a critical role in allowing people to get to work, to doctor’s appointments, to local stores and other important destinations. Transit allows people to remain independent and live in our communities, close to family and friends.
I would like to thank Senator Rick Olseen and Representative Jeremy Kalin for their leadership in providing additional funding for transit systems like ours. I appreciate the fact that we are represented at the legislature by people who are fighting for our needs in our part of the state.
As the population ages, the need for transit service will grow. We can thank our local leaders for their vision and leadership in meeting these growing needs and getting the job done in the area of transportation after so many years of political gridlock.
