Coach Jeremy Albright was not feeling well. Not from something he ate for dinner the night before the game, but from watching his team play against Ogilvie on Jan. 22.
His sickness didn’t last the entire game through, as his team went on a 24-0 run in the final six minutes to earn a 57-49 win.
At the halfway mark the boys were down by eight, which turned to 16 with less than seven minutes left in the game.
Then, something switched inside the boys as they transformed into a different team and shut down Ogilvie the reminder of the game for the win.
“We came alive in the last six minutes left of the game,” Albright said.
Senior Andy Erickson led the team with 25 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Justin “Red” Bosman ended with 10 points and five steals while Jared Orn ended with six points.
Ogilvie was able to neutralize Rush City senior captain Isaac Roll, who finished the game with four points.
From the free throw line, Rush City were on target, as they sank 21 of 28 from the line, which Albright coined “good free throw shooting.”
Albright was glad to overcome the first half of the game.
“We played about as ugly as you can get for the first three quarters of the game,” Albright said.

Mora
On Jan. 25 against the Mora Mustangs, the boys took a step backwards, losing 61-55.
Albright said the boys played good, but Mora just played better.
Mora jumped ahead to an 11-0 lead to start the game, but the Tigers battled back to make the game interesting.
“We played a good game – unfortunately we couldn’t get some shots to drop at the end,” Albright said.
Bosman led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds. Junior Dylan Truskolaski had 11 points and seven rebounds while Roll finished with 10 points.
The boys out rebounded the Mustangs 32-10.
Rush City (8-6) plays Aitkin Friday night on the road.
