Josh Wurdemann of the Rush City boys track and field team placed fifth in the 3200m run and eighth in the 1600m run to earn medals in both events at the Minnesota High School State Track and Field Championships held at Hamline University last Friday and Saturday.

North Branch boys track and field athletes earning medals and a place on the podium at the Minnesota High School State Track and Field Championships held at Hamline University last Friday and Saturday were: Brian Grand taking second and setting a new school record in the 300m hurdles and placing seventh in the 110m hurdles, Ken Broden coming in ninth and setting a new school record in the 400m dash, and the boys 4x400m relay team (Justin Murray, Joe Klun, Ken Broden, Anthony Ceroll) finishing eighth and breaking the North Branch school record.

Rush City boys track and field member Josh Wurdemann left nothing on the track to take fifth place in the 3200m run (about two miles) in the State High School League Track and Field Championships Friday, June 11. Wurdemann will next compete in the 1600m run (about one mile) Saturday, June 12 at 4:31 p.m. For more information go to the Minnesota State High School League Website.

North Branch boys track and field members Brian Grand and Ken Broden qualified for the finals in their events at the Minnesota State High School Track and Field Championships Friday, June 11. Grand will be competing in the 110m hurdle finals at 9:42 a.m. and 300m hurdle finals at 11:38 a.m. Broden will be competing in the 400m dash finals at 11:11 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Hamline University in St. Paul. The North Branch boys track and field 4x400m relay team consisting of; Justin Murray, Joe Klun, Ken Broden and Tony Ceroll took first place in the 7AA Section Meet held at Chisago Lakes High School. The team will be advancing to the State Track and Field Championships. Klun will also be advancing in the triple jump and Broden in the 400m dash since they both placed second in those events. Zack Smith took second place in the pole vault to advance. Brian Grand took first place in the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles, along with second place in the long jump to qualify for the State Track and Field Championships. which will be held Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Rush City boys track and field member, Josh Wurdemann qualified to continue on to the Minnesota State High School Track and Field Championships, by coming in below state qualifying time and taking third place in both the 1600m run and the 3200m run. The Rush City baseball team defeated Pine City 11-4, April 13. The Tiger boys team next travels to Hinckley High School to face the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15.
