The Rush City/Pine City/Hinckley-Finlayson girls gymnastics team beat
North Branch 136.35-133.45 last Monday at Main Street School in North
Branch to remain undefeated this season.

The Rush City boys basketball team continued its winning ways last week
by first crushing the only team to have beaten them this season, Pine
City and then defeating Isle. The Rush City boys avenged their only loss this season by playing great
defense to shut the Dragons down, and trounced them 65-38 last week at
home.

The North Branch girls gymnastics team defeated Columbia Heights
134.025-112.80, Jan. 28, creating a new school team record, with Ariana
Olson breaking individual school records and many Viking gymnasts
creating new personal bests.

The Rush City/Braham wrestling team took fourth place with 119 points
out of 11 teams at the Meadow Creek Tournament, Jan. 29, ahead of
Rockford with 118 and behind Trinity School with 120 team points.

On Jan. 22, at the North Branch Middle School, the North Branch Knights of Columbus #10016 held its annual Free Throw Championship in which 39 area youth competed.

The Pine City/Rush City boys hockey team traveled to lose to Moose
Lake last Monday, after beating Meadow Creek Christian and losing to
Burnett the week before.

The Rush City girls basketball team traveled first to Aitkin for a loss and then to Onamia for a win last week.

The North Branch wrestling team took second out of 12 teams in the
Grand Rapids Tournament Jan. 30. Grand Rapids took first with 246
points while North Branch had 178 points, followed by Hibbing with 141
points.

The North Branch boys hockey team defeated Meadow Creek Christian, but
lost to Cambridge-Isanti and Webster to create a three way tie in the
Two Rivers Conference with the North Branch, Burnett and Moose Lake.

The North Branch boys basketball team split two, traveling to defeat Fridley, but losing to Irondale at home last week.

The North Branch girls basketball team had a tough week last week, losing both its games, mostly due to missed shots. The Viking girls team hosted Fridley Jan. 26 but just couldn’t keep up to the Tigers in shooting and lost 46-56.
