NB police investigating possible child abduction PDF Print E-mail

On the afternoon of July 8, a nine-year-old boy reported that he was grabbed from a street in Countryside Trailer Court in North Branch at about 2:45 p.m., placed in the back seat of a white car, the doors were locked and he was driven south on Co. Rd. 30 (Forest Boulevard) approximately two miles.

The boy said he was able to get out and run away when the car slowed to turn.

The vehicle was described as a four-door white sedan and the driver as a white male, 30-40 years old, thin build, blonde hair and a chest-length goatee.

The NB police are working with other law enforcement agencies with similar cases, in addition to conducting further investigation in the city.

If anyone has any information that would assist in the investigation, they are asked to contact the North Branch Police Department at (651) 674-8848 during business hours or dispatch at (651) 257-4100.

Additional information from School Dist. #138: "This morning, (July 9) Community Education staff was notified by a parent of a possible abduction attempt in North Branch earlier today. Staff at the Main Street School immediately implemented lock down procedures pertaining to events such as this that take place in the community.
 
We were informed later today that the alleged abduction attempt was yesterday afternoon and returned to normal operation, though staff remains on high alert."
 
A letter is being given to parents and guardians of children who participate in Community Education programs at the Main Street School that includes the above information.

Police Chief Steve Forner, Friday, July 10: The police chief reported today that there have been numerous calls regarding vehicles that matched the boy's description. No one has been apprehended. The investigation continues.
