Shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, People’s National Bank of Mora’s North Branch office, at 5481 St. Croix Trail, was robbed by a man estimated to be in his 50s. Dressed in black, the suspect handed the teller a note. There was no visible weapon. The man fled with about $8,500, said Chisago County investigator Tracy Armistead. He then headed south on I-35 in a mint green vehicle. He was traveling on Isanti County Road 9, toward Cambridge, when he was arrested by an Isanti County deputy. He is expected to be formally charged today. The FBI, along with the North Branch Police Department and the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating the incident. North Branch schools reported that, upon notification by law enforcement, all buildings were briefly in “Lockdown Level 1” during the incident. As explained, Lockdown Level 1 occurs when there is a threat outside the buildings. In a level one lockdown, outer doors are kept locked until the “all clear” is sounded. Students are allowed to pass between classes during the lockdown. The district reports that the “all clear” was sounded about noon, when the district was informed that the suspect was in police the custody. Comments (0)
