Wednesday, 07 October 2009
Demetrius Anthony McGinnis, 19, pleaded guilty  to first-degree aggravated robbery Monday, Oct. 5,  before the Hon. John McBride in Chisago County District Court, County Attorney Janet Reiter announced.

McGinnis admitted that he was one of four people involved in the armed robbery of Rick’s Liquor store in Wyoming on Jan. 23, 2009.

In the incident, two masked men entered the store with a rifle, while the other two individuals remained in the getaway car. The two masked robbers demanded money from the clerk. They left with approximately $3,000. All four were arrested shortly thereafter by Wyoming police officers and Chisago County sheriff’s deputies.

McGinnis will receive a sentence consistent with the Minnesota sentencing guidelines, which depends upon his criminal history. It is anticipated he will be sentenced to 50 months in prison.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Sentencing is set for Nov. 18.
