Wednesday, 18 November 2009

From the Chisago County Attorney's office

County Attorney Janet Reiter announced today, Wednesday, Nov. 18, that Demetrius Anthony McGinnis, age 19, was sentenced to 50 months in prison for Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree by the Honorable John McBride in Chisago County District Court.

McGinnis had plead guilty, admitting that he was one of four (4) people involved in the armed robbery of Rick’s Liquor store in Wyoming on January 23, 2009.

In that case, two masked men entered the store with a rifle, while the other two individuals remained in the getaway car. The two masked robbers demanded money from the clerk.

They left with approximately $3000 and all four (4) were apprehended shortly thereafter by Wyoming police officers and Chisago County sheriff’s deputies.

Two other defendants in that case, Blake Nelson and Justin Lonnquist still await trial.

McGinnis’ sentence was in accord with the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines.
