last Thursday, but was attending the Minnesota Newspaper Association
convention where she accepted four first-place awards on behalf of the
135-year-old hometown newspaper, among them "Best Web Site."

A 29-year-old North Branch man and a Isanti man, 35, died from
injuries sustained in an early morning crash Wednesday, Feb. 3 in North
Branch Township. Authorities have now released their names.

It’s Winter Fest time in North Branch and while most people would
associate words like slip and slide with a cold-weather event, this
year’s activities also include “Plunge,”“Putt,”“Bowl,” and “Bunz.”

Betty Stoffel retired as coordinator of the 20-year-old We "R" Able program, a program for adults with disabilities, run through the St. Croix River Education District (SCRED). A party was held at the North Branch senior center Wednesday afternoon where a lot of good things were said about a lot of good people, most especially Betty Stoffel. There were a few tears, a lot of laughs and many, many thank yous all around. Betty is pictured with Lori Patterson, a coordinator of the Paradise Pride club in Rush City.
