Donna Setter has been serving the families of North Branch Area School District #138 for 20 years.
On Jan. 26, she resigned her position on the school board.

It’s Winter Fest time in North Branch and while most people would associate words like slip and slide with a cold-weather event, this year’s activities also include  “Plunge,”“Putt,”“Bowl,” and “Bunz.”

There was a whopper of a meeting last Wednesday, with folks packing the board room, the hallway and the lunch room.The topic: LS Power’s electric generating plant proposal.
 
Local legislators seek funding for county trail
Rep. Jeremy Kalin, DFL-North Branch, and Sen. Rick Olseen, DFL-Harris, are seeking bonding for Allemansratt Nature Reserve and Park in Lindstrom and the proposed Swedish Immigrant Trail.
 
A party for Betty

Betty Stoffel retired as coordinator of the 20-year-old We "R" Able program, a program for adults with disabilities, run through the St. Croix River Education District (SCRED). A party was held at the North Branch senior center Wednesday afternoon where a lot of good things were said about a lot of good people, most especially Betty Stoffel. There were a few tears, a lot of laughs and many, many thank yous all around. Betty is pictured with Lori Patterson, a coordinator of the Paradise Pride club in Rush City. NB school board reduces pay as it reorganizes
At their organizational meeting last Thursday night, the North Branch school board members reduced their per meeting pay a little more than 10 percent.
