Dan Hanson, owner of Toad’s Tree & Stump Removal in Rush City, had a terrible accident while working in a bucket truck March 16 — he fell from the bucket at a substantial height and hit the ground.

He punctured his left lung, shattered his rib cage, broke three vertebrae in his back, ruptured his spleen and had intensive internal bleeding. He was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and was in the intensive care unit for five weeks. He was put in an induced coma for two weeks, and according to his daughter, Justine Hanson, he has had nine or 10 surgeries.
